Where are you located?
We are conveniently located in Freeport, Illinois, just 20 miles south of the Wisconsin state line and 100 miles west of Chicago.
How long have you been in business?
Since 1984 at that time Trucks Inc. bought Kurtz Motor Trucks and expanded to sell parts and make truck repairs. In 1994, the Helm Group bought Trucks, Inc., changing the name one last time to Heavy Equipment Services, signifying our comprehensive service and repair of heavy-duty and heavy-weight vehicles and equipment.
What types of vehicles do you service?
We service all makes and models of trucks, trailers, farm and construction equipment. Our ASE certified technicians are highly qualified to handle any equipment problem or maintenance issue you're having. Call for a quote today!!
The State of Illinois requires a semi-annual vehicle inspection. Is that something you do?
Yes. Our State of Illinois certified D.O.T. testing station is one of few in the area. The lane is regulated by the state on a first come first serve basis, and hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8am - 3pm. Along with State inspections we also do Federal D.O.T. inspections.
Can you deliver or ship parts?
Yes, we can do both, depending on which you prefer. We have an outside parts salesman who delivers parts Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm within the general area. For those who are not in that parts delivery area, shipping is always available. Please call for more information on our parts route and the area we cover.
In an emergency, is road service available?
Yes, we have a service van that will go out to the roadside for repair. If the repair is too major to be fixed along the roadside, with your approval, we will arrange for towing of your vehicle back to our shop for more extensive repair work.
Do you generally keep a wide variety of parts and filters in stock?
Yes, we currently have over 40,000 different part numbers in our inventory, with a selection of over 460 different fleet guard filters for all makes and models.
Can you make Hydraulic Hoses?
Yes, we have a Parker Parkrimp® system that allows us to make new hydraulic hoses and also fabricate hoses from ¼" to 2". Any hose designed for farm equipment, construction equipment, truck, and/or any equipment that uses hydraulic hoses can be made with this system. We stock over 600 different fittings and 55 different hoses.
